Every year in the month of November comes around a massive flood of writers. Fiction, nonfiction, even fanfiction set out to join this writing program. NaNoWriMo has begun, the program allows students anywhere to write to their heart’s content.

Students get to choose their own goal of words to write throughout the month, often ranging from 30,000 to 50,000, though any value is accepted. I am going for a 50,000 goal and already have gotten 5% into my goal just on the second day of this. Despite November having already started, it’s not too late to join and write a novel.

NaNoWriMo is merely a challenge for those who wish to push themselves and their creative writing. It’s a fascinating thing to be a part of, and a couple of years back I even completed my goal!

The site tracks your goals for you, allows you to know how much you need to write every day to reach your goal by the end of the month, and even tells you when you’ll finish based on the average daily. The site even allows for classrooms to be made in the case any teacher wishes their class to join in on this event.

Even if you don’t finish your word goal, the site allows you to continue writing all year long. Like I’ve said, this month is just a challenge for those willing. Overall, this program is a thought-provoking, creative way to express yourself and thoughts and encourages everyone to finish some goals.
