Earlier this week, it was reported that on Nov. 2, a student at Folsom Middle School had to be placed in intensive care after being bullied on a school field trip.

Titus White, a 12-year-old student, was a victim of race objected bullying.

White was said to have been harassed by other students and eventually, a student slammed his head into a pole.

When returning home, White told his mother of extreme pain in his head. Kindra Miller, his mother, took White to the hospital, where he was placed in ICU and examined.

Doctors say that White suffered brain bleeds from the impact, after remaining in the hospital for three days, White remains to have headaches and pain.

After being emitted from the hospital, White and his mother, Miller, are worried about his safety if he is to return to school.

Miller demands the incident to be evaluated further, as the alleged bully has only been suspended from school.

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District’s spokesperson released an apology to the family, but it isn’t acceptable for the damage done.

Many officials, including the president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Betty Williams, are demanding for the Department of Justice to investigate the incident as a hate crime.

KCRA reports that White hasn’t been the first student in an FCUSD school to experience bullying for their race.

They state, “In 2014, a 12-year-old student attending the same middle school committed suicide after years of bullying.”

“And in 2017, a Sutter Middle School teacher left the district after allegedly making insensitive comments about lynching black Americans and flying a Confederate flag in his classroom.”

While the district takes note of these events and is transparent about any issues taking place in their schools, many don’t believe an effect is being seen.

Williams, president of the NAACP, says, “I’ve never in my life seen absolutely nothing happen to a child at this level of injury, I think it’s ludicrous to think that we are to expect a change if we keep the same management in place.”

Folsom Middle is considering an expulsion of the alleged bully, and according to the police chief, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is now investigating the case.

White adds to the list of unjust incidents that occur because of bullying at schools around the state and country.
